I have tried a couple newer drivers but experienced some oddities occasionally. If you have AMD integrated-it's only used for Windows/light 3d.and in that instance I suggest 22.3.1.ĥ11.79 has been rock solid for me. The newest AMD driver might-they're working on OpenGL performance & other optimizations.īut there is no point in the AMD driver being latest on systems where AMD is only for integrated graphics. No Nvidia driver is going to come out tomorrow that will give you a 50% perf uplift. With drivers-unless you have a specific reason to update they're best left alone. Nvidias, on the other hand, while they're not bugfree they're not that bad either. AMDs GPU drivers are far FAR from perfect & running the latest usually means compromising stability.
On an AMD system (integrated or dedi) I would strongly suggest NOT running anything other than a WHQL driver. Their card partners need to start getting bios updates out that fix their power issues.Nvidias GPU drivers are far more mature than AMDs. It's always good to have options! AMD just needs to concentrate on function and stability over new features. Even DDU leave registry orphans behind, so I run ccleaner to clean up the registry afterwords. No one way of doing things ever really works 100% of the time, in all cases. Most people that run DDU understand they are using an aggressive, brute force method, therefore accept the consequences.
Most uninstallers probably could do better, but they choose caution over completeness. Your OS could have been updated and if the uninstall sets things back to the way it found it, it could cause an issue. Sometimes being too aggressive in removal and in resetting defaults can be bad too! The simple fact is that defaults change. It's not uncommon that uninstallers leave things behind either.
I would add that DDU is not an AMD only tool either.
